THE JOINT COMMISSION

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Uptown is accredited by The Joint Commission. By being compliant with The Joint Commission’s national standards for healthcare quality and safety, Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Uptown has earned The Joint Commissions Gold Seal of Approval.

The Joint Commission is dedicated to continuously improving the safety and quality of the nation’s healthcare through voluntary accreditation. The Joint Commission’s most recent on-site survey of Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Uptown occurred in August 2012.

The Joint Commission’s Top Performer on Key Quality Measures® program recognizes accredited hospitals that attain excellence on accountability measure performance. The program is based on data reported in the previous year about evidence-based clinical processes that are shown to be the best treatments for certain conditions, including heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care, children’s asthma, inpatient psychiatric services, stroke, venous thromboembolism, and immunization. Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Uptown is a one of The Joint Commission’s Top Performers.

ONGOING SURVEYS

The Joint Commission performs unannounced surveys of the hospital for the purpose of evaluating and verifying the organization’s compliance with The Joint Commission’s nationally established standards. The survey results are used to determine whether, and the conditions under which, accreditation should be awarded the organization.

The Joint Commission’s standards encompass organization quality, patient safety and care, and the safety of the environment in which care is provided. Anyone believing that he or she has pertinent and valid concerns about such matters that the hospital has not satisfactorily addressed is encouraged by the hospital to contact The Joint Commission.
