Dr. Alison U. Barron is a breast surgeon specializing in breast surgical oncology and is certified by the American Board of Surgery. She is an adjunct assistant professor at Texas A&M University College of Medicine.
Dr. Barron attended medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas where she obtained her medical doctorate. She then went on to complete a general surgery internship and residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and Parkland Hospital where she was also chief resident. Dr. Barron then completed a fellowship in Breast Surgical Oncology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Dr. Barron is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Society of Surgical Oncology, the American Society of Breast Surgeons, and the American Medical Association. She has given numerous poster and oral presentations at national meetings. She was awarded the George Peters Award for Best Presentation by a Breast Fellow in 2018.
Dr. Barron was born and raised in Laredo, TX and is fluent in Spanish. She comes from a large family of physicians and medical care workers in south Texas. She enjoys cooking, running, hiking, traveling, and bowling. Dr. Barron enjoys giving back to the community and has traveled to Guatemala for the Emmaus Medical Mission in Sumpango where she assisted in general surgical operations.
